villa e-1027 by eileen gray

In april, tanita—our founder and design director—fulfilled a long-time dream: visiting the villa of one of her design idols, eileen gray. gray built her villa at the age of 50 as a refuge for herself and her friends on the côte d’azur, in roquebrune-cap-martin. It’s a magical place. The air smells like perfume—blossoming flowers carried by the wind, mixed with the scent of saltwater. just one of the reasons it must have felt like paradise. gray was fascinated by technical details and movement. you can see that obsession in the small, clever elements of her furniture. at the same time, she had a love for flat, structured architectural surfaces—playing with light and color. and the turquoise? it’s exactly like the color of the sea in that last, shimmering meter before it touches the coast.

the designer behind POSSI

"i've always had an obsession with simple and solid joinery which creates a sculptural aesthetic when applied and multiplied. the last photo above is POSSI system's very first prototype connection printed in 3d from 2017. only later I found out how much it resembles with mies van der rohe’s pillar for the barcelona pavilion. i guess we all subconsciously get inspired by our design heroes. i was aiming to design a connection allowing a modular kitchen to be free-standing and growing." POSSI's joinery has evolved since 2017, but its core still serves as the backbone for all of our products to be adapted and grow. even growing into other applications such as chairs, tables, sofas and many more. all photos are taken by jakob storm

neues frankfurt

"das neue frankfurt" is a social housing project from the 1930s located in frankfurt am main, germany – designed, developed and built for the working class after WWI. The intention was to build flats with a rent less than 25 percent of the monthly income. within 5 years around 10,000 flats were constructed for the people searching for an affordable home. architects used design as a tool to not only design very functional aesthetically-pleasing housing, but also interior features such as lamp fixtures, handles and the famous frankfurt kitchen. last one design by the only female architect within this project: margarethe schütte-lihotzky. using design for efficiency, well-being and make living affordable is the inspiring core in this project.

how it all started

meat packing district copenhagen november 2021, we took the courage and launched our modular kitchen brand POSSI for the very first time. DON'T PUT BABY IN THE CORNER was our vision for the future of kitchen – and still is. the kitchen as the center of the home, our space for well-being, friends and family. the broccoli literally became our spirit "animal" and was given away as our first reusable business cards.
